Elizabeth
Harmetz’ uniquely beautiful voice, true artistic integrity,
and deep commitment to her craft define and inspire her every
moment on stage.
A sampling
of her opera soprano roles include Despina in Cosi
Fan Tutte, Mimi in La Boheme,
Valencienne in The Merry Widow,
and Rosina in The Barber of Seville.
A versatile singing/actor she once played both Susanna
and Cherubino in the same production of Mozart's
The Marriage of Figaro alternating
roles from one night to the next. In February she will debut
as Pamina in The Magic Flute
with the Los Angeles Metropolitan.
Enhancing
Elizabeth’s vocal and artistic range is her sincere
love of musical theater. Earlier this year Elizabeth Harmetz
gave a special request encore performance of Eliza
in My Fair Lady alongside Michael
Allinson who is said to have performed Higgins on Broadway
and off more than any other person in history. A personal
record of her own is the number of different roles she has
performed in one work: Rapunzel, Stepmother,
Granny, and Cinderella’s Mother all
from Into the Woods by Stephen
Sondheim. Other favorite soprano theater roles include Kate
in Kiss Me Kate, Sonia
in Godspell, and Laurey
in Oklahoma!
Elizabeth
is also passionate about the development of new works and
created the soprano role of Marlene the zealous stage
director for the world premiere of Red, White,
and Blue by Susan Asbjornson. Currently she
is immersed in the role of Mercedes for a new musical
opera by Cody Gillette and Kai Coffer based on the Dumas novel
The Count of Monte Cristo. Elizabeth
Harmetz also tours regularly in Red Riding Hood
(AKA Revenge of the Ninja) and The
Three Little Pigs with Once Upon an Opera, a
company devoted to introducing and exciting children about
classical music.
In addition
to recording several roles for the new demo cast recording
for Monte Cristo Elizabeth’s
solo CD Stars Fill the Sky “showcases
her grand sound and range.” For complete review: talkinbroadway.com
