I, Caligula -An Insanity Musical
Elizabeth will be originating the role of Caesonia, Caligula’s Queen in the world premiere of Caligula with Lyrics and Book by Kai Cofer, Music by Cody Gillette

“When the lines blur; who is to blame?”
Confined to a political asylum in 1930’s Fascist Italy, a group of mentally ill inmates attempt to demonstrate their rehabilitation by mounting an original musical production about Caligula, the first century Roman Emperor. Mayhem ensues in the form of a Greek tragi-comedy that parodies dictators (even those of the 21st century), as the inmates’ "real" lives parallel, intermingle, and unravel in unexpected ways with the lives of the characters they are portraying. Upon the death of his sister Drusilla, and his total lack of faith in human goodness – much less in Roman politics - both Caligula-the-character and Caligula-the-actor slide further and further into a dark world of insanity and inhumanity, while the inmates question fantasy vs. reality -- finally staging a rebellion with real life consequences.
